Who pays for it
Lareb's 2027 budget proposal lists an institutional subsidy of €2.097 million for 2025 and €2.783 million for 2026 and each year 2027–2031; this is not TIS-only funding or total revenue, and the 2027 amount is proposed.
Status: Supporting
Lareb's TIS is a public service, but its funding spans several tasks and its public overview gives limited detail on review methods and author disclosures. SafeMomma uses it with a separately owned source, and keeps TIS advice distinct from adverse-event reports.
How SafeMomma uses it
Used for pregnancy and breastfeeding medicine information, with a second independent check for important claims.
The audit
- Who controls it
- Lareb's TIS experts research literature and publish medicine information. The Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register is a separate activity within Moeders van Morgen Lareb, and participation in ConcePTION does not show control of TIS conclusions.
- Money
- Lareb's 2025 report separates statutory pharmacovigilance work, Moeders van Morgen, monitoring, vaccine tasks, and separately funded projects. A 2027 budget proposal lists €2.097 million for 2025 and €2.783 million for 2026 and each year 2027–2031 as an institutional subsidy, not TIS-only funding or total revenue.
- Conflict rules
- The review found no TIS-specific author-conflict policy or page-level declarations. The TIS page names experts but does not list each writer's interests.
- Method
- The TIS says it researches literature and covers preconception, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. The reviewed overview does not set out a repeatable search method, evidence grades, or full references for every page; adverse-event reports are not proof of cause or rates.
- Dates on its pages
- At the end of 2025 the knowledge base had 524 pages; 121 were updated in 2025, including 73 new pages, but no fixed review interval or page-age profile was published.
- Political exposure
- Lareb's 2025 report says extra vaccine tasks included answering sensitive questions from media, government, politics, and critical groups. Its supervisory report describes financial uncertainty for 2025–2029, but the reviewed sources do not show that those pressures changed pregnancy or breastfeeding advice.
- Money exposure
- No direct pharmaceutical-company funding of TIS was established. Lareb participates in ConcePTION/IMI, but no TIS-specific award, control right, or content change was verified; public task funding is structural exposure, not evidence of influence.
- Track record
- Lareb was not tested as a source in the five b1–b5 backtests. Its 2025 report documents page updates and service work, but the review found no major Moeders van Morgen/TIS correction or retraction; Lareb also says adverse-event reports do not prove cause or show incidence rates.
Where this comes from
Incentive exposure describes pressure from money or politics, not whether the source is right. Funding alone does not show influence.
